Thoughts on Iran and Graham Platner

Iran War

Iran is a very interesting situation. First of all, it’s a very unpopular topic back here in the USA.  To understand the conflict, you must take a step back.  Iran is a terrorist lead regime hell bent on raising holy hell in the Middle East.  They have never played by the rules of law. They enriched uranium when they said they wouldn’t and have funded and armed terror proxies in Gaza and Yemen.  They have broken the cease fire at least twice now by firing at ships in the Strait of Hormuz.  As a result, we have bombed them again for the last 2 days.  I am no expert, but their infrastructure has to be pretty blown up by now.  We took out the Ayatollah, but his son is the replacement… more of the same.

What is the end game here?

Hard to say. Boots on the ground is not going to fly but would be the easiest way to get a regime change.  There is political risk as well, we have elections in November. The war is very unpopular and if the Democrats take Congress, they likely will do what they can to end the war themselves.  Iran is clearly banking on prolonging the conflict in hopes of help the Democrats in November’s General Elections. Iran and its regime are not going to give up. It shows weakness.  They also know if they do give up power, they best defect to Russia as the natives will likely try and hang them.  The thing to remember is there was an uprising which Trump had called for; however, we did nothing and those people are all either jailed or were killed.  This is a brutal regime.  I think the end game looks like us continuing to bomb them for several weeks. Sure, we are going through our stockpiles of missiles and bombs, but we cant just hit pause.  The more we take out, the weaker they get.  I just wish we would get better information, as Trump keeps saying we have demolished them, yet they keep stirring up trouble?

I do not think we achieved our goals in Iran.  We have never learned our lesson about this region of the world. Terror regimes do not give up. They do not get overthrown.  It will be another forever war if we keep going.  Similar to Israel and Hamas and Hezbollah, they agree to a cease fire, reload then go back at it again.  Isn’t it interesting that Israel has quit assisting us?  Especially when they were the ones who dragged us in?

Graham Platner drops out in Maine

No real shock here. As blogged before, he has more skeletons than a graveyard.  Well, two allegations of rape against him were leveled earlier this week.  So, Democrats went to their newly found playbook. Removing him from the ballot by making him drop out, ala Joe Biden.  The Democrats will convene in the smoke-filled room and pick their preferred candidate.  Once again, they override the will of the voters in their Party. Better a viable candidate that is selected, not elected. It sucks when they leave things in the hands of their voters. This should be illegal.

These allegations were out about Platner, and he still won the primary by about 52% over his next closest challenger.  He is who the people wanted, now they will pick someone who wasn’t on the ballot to run instead!  It was a bizarre 11-minute video on X, filmed from the side of a roadway.  Rambling and barely coherent, he was all over the place.  I would have done a brief press conference or released a statement.  He did himself no favors.  This man is a trash human being. How he was picked to run, or even better yet got the nomination in a landslide is beyond the pale to me.  These whacko candidates are somehow drawn to politics right now and it is scary.

This is actually a problem for the GOP. You see, as blogged in this space, Platner, like some of the other whackos Democrats want on the ballot, could be used by Republicans to label the whole slate of Democrats as out of touch extremists. Their job would be easier with Platner on the ballot. Ideally, they can hold these candidates, their beliefs, and baggage, over the head of every Democrat running in November.  With Platner gone, there will be a better candidate on the ballot, allegedly.

In closing, how does Platner become the nominee?  He beat the brakes off the current governor in the primary.  This baggage was coming out long before that vote.  I understand Bernie Sanders, and Zohran Mamdani picked him out, but do they not vet people?  It’s amazing this guy was close to being a Senator.  So, I guess this is the new normal. When the Democrats don’t like you, they pull you from the ballot for a more preferred candidate?

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman

Sen John Fetterman said it best about last night when Platner dropped out “the trash took itself out.”  Starting to like Fetterman, I’ll be honest.
